I bought tickets in july of 2007. I walked out of my job so I could go see them. I was so excited that I dropped my phone in the parking lot. I was so upset! I was going to take pictures with my camera phone!! I had floor seats, row 6!! The guy next to me said he would email his pictures to me but never did. The concert was great. I got my tour shirt and Robert locked eyes with me. But it still sadnens me that I didnt get any photos. I was going to go to Arizona so I could see them but i severly injured my right knee level 4. so if anyone could share some of their photos, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mindy

Oh by the way , the person that found my phone changed the voicemail and was reading all my messges!!!

I plan on arriving very early and securing a spot in the front. I'm just wondering where Robert will stand. It would suck to plant myself in the middle, only to find out he's on the far left side of the stage or something. Hopefully someone out there has seen them before than and can give me a heads up on where he spends most of his time. Thnx guys!

If I go, I will be taking the bus up. The bus station is at 425 Mission St. and I'll be staying just a couple of blocks away. No one I know from SF is going to the festival.

Is anyone going that has extra space and can easily pick me up??? I've got gas $$$!!! :)
I'd also love to meet other Cure fans!

I love the cure as much as anyone else in this group, but honestly I think robert smith is losing it. Lately it seems like he is just making one bad decision after another. He sold out to commercials, provided a theme song for that dragon tales show, did a song with blink 182, fired critical members of the band, and made that self titled album that merely shadowed their potential. He even came up with those new, watered down versions of songs like "boys don't cry" and "close to me" for the live shows, and they suck! I hate to say it but maybe he should take a lesson from jerry seinfeld and quit while he's ahead. I'm sure a bunch of people want to ream me for this post but come on! It's disappointing! Does anyone agree with me on this?

Just got an email from Geffen records about the new Cure DVD called “Festival 2005,” released today Here’s some of the text from their email:

AVAILABLE 12/5/2006 WORLDWIDE
A NEW LIVE DVD - 'FESTIVAL 2005'

In 2005 a nascent Cure trio of Robert Smith, Simon Gallup and Jason Cooper celebrated the return of former guitarist Porl Thompson with a series of nine eclectic headline festival shows across Europe. The quartets unique blend of passion and power proved to be a thrilling combination, and the summer set a new benchmark for Cure live highs.

Festival 2005 presents a selection of these performances captured by a mix of fans, crew and “on-the-night-big-screen cameras”.

Edited by Daren Butler and mixed by Keith Uddin in collaboration with Robert Smith, this 30 song DVD is a wonderful reminder of how and why The Cure remain one of the most vibrant bands on the planet.

So I just got done watching the DVD of the Greatest Hits. Back when it came out, I really really loved the new song "Cut here", but did not at all like "Just say Yes". There are some Cure songs that I am less fond of than others, but this was the first I can truly say I did not like at all. Today when the video for the song came on, I thought maybe age and time would change my opinion. NO! I dislike it more than ever now that I have seen the video. Especially with the blonde bouncy pop star looking girl singing over his shoulder. Who was that? Anyhoo...

I'd like to hear the opinions of others. Is it just me? What am I not getting about this song? Is it really as horrible as I think it is???

This month, a tribute to more than a man, or just a symbol, but both! Whatever you may call him, can we suggest 'Purple one', Prince has left his indelible mark on the music landscape. From his really early funky-pop, to the more slick and cohesive '1999' and the musical spectacular of his 'Purple Rain' era majesty, what really seemed to confuse folks was the name change to a symbol, 'the artist formerly known as prince' became the proper way to refer to the man now that his name was an unpronounceable symbol. It just left many of us bemused, did it not?

New post from Robert about the remastered cds and what might be coming next year:

JAPANESE WHISPERS AND...
5/30/2006 6:16:24 PM - by CURE:ROBERT

STUFF

JAPANESE WHISPERS IS DELETED
AS THERE SEEMED LITTLE POINT IN REMASTERING AN ALBUM THAT WASNT REALLY AN ALBUM ANYWAY
AND (AS HAS ALREADY BEEN POINTED OUT) ALL THE JW SONGS ARE AVAILABLE AS REMASTERS ON THE GREATEST HITS AND JOIN THE DOTS

AND 'OTHER' KMKMKM SONGS...

THIS WAS A DIFFICULT EXTRAS CD TO COMPILE
AS THERE WERE REALLY TWO...
ONE WITH 18 UNRELEASED AND B-SIDE INSTRUMENTAL DEMOS
AND THE DEMOS/OUT-TAKES/LIVE ONE THAT IS TO BE RELEASED

ON BALANCE I (AND THOSE I PLAYED BOTH TO) FELT THAT THE DEMOS/OUT-TAKES/LIVE ONE WAS JUST MORE INTERESTING AS AN EXTRA WITH THE KMKMKM ALBUM...

MAYBE THE OTHER ONE WILL LEAK OUT SOMETIME...

ANYWAY...
THESE NEXT REMASTERS REALLY DO SOUND FAB... PARTICULARLY THE TOP!
RSX

AND (AS HAS ALSO ALREADY BEEN POINTED OUT)
NOW ALL THE CURIOSITY TRACKS WILL BE AVAILABLE
AND
THERE WILL BE AN 'ALL THE SINGLES' COLLECTION NEXT YEAR - WITH STARING AT THE SEA TYPE LINKS INBETWEEN
AND
THERE WILL BE A LIVE DVD BOXSET
WITH ORANGE
AND SHOW
AND JAPAN(?)
AND
AND
OTHER SURPRISE STUFF

AND
A PRAYER TOUR SHOW?
HMMMM...
IF I CAN FIND THE FOOTAGE!

ONWARDS...

Make Some Noise for human rights with The Black Eyed Peas, Avril Lavigne, and The Cure performing the music of John Lennon!

Celebrate International Human Rights Day by being part of the global launch of Make Some Noise, Amnesty International’s new global campaign that is a mix of music and activism. Today sees the release of four new versions of iconic John Lennon songs: the Black Eyed Peas’ rousing take on Power to the People, The Cure’s interpretation of Love, Snow Patrol’s recording of Isolation, and Grow Old With Me, performed by The Postal Service.

Download all four exclusive singles now at www.amnesty.org/noise!

More John Lennon songs covered by top artists, including Avril Lavigne, will follow in early 2006.

“It’s wonderful that, through this campaign, music which is so familiar to many people of my era will now be embraced by a whole new generation,” says Yoko Ono. “John’s music set out to inspire change, just as Make Some Noise does. In standing up for human rights, we really can make the world a better place.”

The new singles will be available as either individual downloads or as part of a downloadable compilation album. All profits from music sales support Amnesty International, the world’s largest grassroots human rights organization.

Make Some Noise follows Yoko Ono’s generous donation of the rights to John Lennon’s solo songbook to Amnesty International in 2003.

Get Your Noisy Threads!
Wearing this t-shirt, or giving one as a gift, is a great way to get involved and Make Some Noise! It’s 100% cotton and available in white or heather gray. Best of all, the proceeds support Amnesty International's human rights work. So, Make Some Noise -- wear the t-shirt!
Buy it now.

"Reprinted from an email alert I got from Amnesty USA.org"

BTW!
The songs are .99 cents + tax and/or fee
and you must download MSN's music assistant program to
get the song. You also need to be logged into MSN to get the
"buy now" buttons to work. I found that out the hard way.
So if you want the song get a MSN Passport, it's free...
I don't know why MSN unlike Yahoo makes you go through such hoops but they do...
At Live 8, I think the tape prevented a tempo change. Does anyone know if they used backing tracks at the recent festival in Spain?

However, does anyone else think that the second CD's they come packaged with are kind of superfluous? Don't get me wrong, I love "Faith", but I scarcely need three different demo versions of it. Does anyone else think it's a bit un-needed?

Ugh! So happy with that, then I actually read the messages and find out that "THIS WILL BE A GUITAR CURE" and "NO KEYBOARDS!". Well that's disappointing, but still great to have Porl back for however long it is. So they HAVE to open with 'Open' at Live 8, right? : ) "

And we would like to thank everyone who was there for all the support and dancing. We played that night as Baby Screams but we are changing the name back to Japanese Baby.
We have another show lined up at Studio Z in July. If anyone in this group knows a keyboard player, in the Bay Area, that loves The Cure, that would be interested in playing this show with us, have them contact us.
Contact at japanesebabysf@yahoo.com
It looks like the streaming video I had up has been removed. You can go here to see some of the old Japanese Baby videos and a new clip under Baby Screams.
